Efficient Bayesian inference for mechanistic modelling with high-throughput data.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2022
Bayesian methods are routinely used to combine experimental data with detailed mathematical models to obtain insights into physical phenomena. However, the computational cost of Bayesian computation with detailed models has been a notorious problem ...

The Discrete Infinite Logistic Normal Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present the discrete infinite logistic normal distribution (DILN), a Bayesian nonparametric prior for mixed membership models. DILN is a generalization of the hierarchical Dirichlet process (HDP) that models correlation structure between the weights ...

Approximate Bayesian inference based on INLA algorithm

open access: yesStatistical Theory and Related Fields
The integrated nested Laplace approximation (INLA) algorithm provides a computationally efficient approach for approximate Bayesian inference, overcoming the limitations of traditional Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods.

Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance Using Bayesian Occupancy Filter and Approximate Inference

open access: yesSensors, 2013
The goal of this paper is to solve the problem of dynamic obstacle avoidance for a mobile platform using the stochastic optimal control framework to compute paths that are optimal in terms of safety and energy efficiency under constraints.

Using likelihood-free inference to compare evolutionary dynamics of the protein networks of H. pylori and P. falciparum. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2007
Gene duplication with subsequent interaction divergence is one of the primary driving forces in the evolution of genetic systems. Yet little is known about the precise mechanisms and the role of duplication divergence in the evolution of protein networks

Scalable Inference for Markov Processes with Intractable Likelihoods

open access: yes, 2014
Bayesian inference for Markov processes has become increasingly relevant in recent years. Problems of this type often have intractable likelihoods and prior knowledge about model rate parameters is often poor.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Shared Genetic Effects and Antagonistic Pleiotropy Between Multiple Sclerosis and Common Cancers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epidemiologic studies have reported inconsistent altered cancer risk in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Factors such as immune dysregulation, comorbidities, and disease‐modifying therapies may contribute to this variability.

Biopsychosocial determinants of hand function and its trajectories over five years in patients with hand osteoarthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives This study aimed to investigate hand function trajectories over 5 years in primary hand osteoarthritis. Additionally, determinants of baseline and longitudinal hand function were assessed. Methods 538 patients with both baseline and 5‐year study visits were analyzed.
