Monotonicity of Quadrature Approximations [PDF]
For the general quadrature rules of Newton-Cotes we show that the convergence is monotone for the appropriate class of functions. Included are the well-known trapezoidal and Simpson rules.

Numerical approximation of one phase quadrature domains [PDF]
AbstractIn this work, we present two numerical schemes for a free boundary problem that is called one phase quadrature domain. In the first method, using the properties of a given free boundary problem, we derive a method that leads us to a fast iterative solver. The iteration procedure is adapted to work in the case when topology changes.

Entanglement properties of degenerate four-wave mixing of matter-waves in a periodic potential [PDF]
In a recent experiment Campbell et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 020406 (2006)] observed degenerate four-wave mixing of matter-waves in a one-dimensional optical lattice, a process with potential for generating entanglement among atoms.

A Construction of Nonnegative Approximate Quadratures [PDF]
Tchakaloff's demonstration is a very beautiful one, involving the theory of convex bodies. A separating hyperplane is employed and a nonconstructive proof is obtained. The theorem is valid for weighted integrals of dimension d _ 1. Equivalent results on finite moment spaces were obtained earlier by various authors.

Hermite–Padé approximation and simultaneous quadrature formulas
We study Hermite–Padé approximation of the so-called Nikishin systems of functions. In particular, the set of multi-indices for which normality is known to take place is considerably enlarged as well as the sequences of multi-indices for which convergence of the corresponding simultaneous rational approximants takes place.

Iterative methods for solving Ambartsumian’s equations. Part 1
Background. Ambartsumian’s equation and its generalizations are one of the main integral equations of astrophysics, which have found wide application in many areas of physics and technology. An analytical solution to this equation is currently unknown,

Distributed quantum sensing enhanced by continuous-variable error correction [PDF]
A distributed sensing protocol uses a network of local sensing nodes to estimate a global feature of the network, such as a weighted average of locally detectable parameters.
