On polynomial approximation in the complex plane with application to conformal mapping [PDF]
We consider the selection of polynomial bases for polynomial approximation of analytic functions on bounded simply connected regions in the complex plane. While a monomial basis may be very ill-conditioned, we show that a basis of Lagrange polynomials with Fejér points as nodes is well-conditioned.

Effective R-Matrix Parameterizations for Nuclear Data* [PDF]
We derive an effective Reich-Moore approximation (RMA) of the Wigner-Eisenbud R-matrix formalism parameterized by complex-valued resonance energies and widths; this RMA exactly reproduces the total eliminated cross section.

Continued g-fractions and geometry of bounded analytic maps
In this work we study qualitative properties of real analytic bounded maps. The main tool is approximation of real valued functions analytic in rectangular domains of the complex plane by continued g-fractions of Wall.

Linear Sigma model in the Gaussian wave functional approximation II: Analyticity of the S-matrix and the effective potential/action [PDF]
We show an explicit connection between the solution to the equations of motion in the Gaussian functional approximation and the minimum of the (Gaussian) effective potential/action of the linear $\Sigma$ model, as well as with the N/D method in ...

Analysis of bimaterial interface cracks using the localized method of fundamental solutions
This short communication makes the first attempt to apply the localized method of fundamental solutions (LMFS), a newly-developed meshless collocation method, for fracture mechanics analysis of bimaterial interface crack problems.

RELATIONS BETWEEN CERTAIN DOMAINS IN THE COMPLEX PLANE AND POLYNOMIAL APPROXIMATION IN THE DOMAINS [PDF]
The author considers some classes of planar, simply connected domains including chordarc domains, quasidisks, quasiconvex domains, and John disks. These classes have been studied in the literature mainly for their importance in geometric function theory. The author proves various inclusion relations between these classes.

Transparent boundary conditions based on the Pole Condition for time-dependent, two-dimensional problems [PDF]
The pole condition approach for deriving transparent boundary conditions is extended to the time-dependent, two-dimensional case. Non-physical modes of the solution are identified by the position of poles of the solution's spatial Laplace transform in ...

Influence of through-flow on linear pattern formation properties in binary mixture convection
We investigate how a horizontal plane Poiseuille shear flow changes linear convection properties in binary fluid layers heated from below. The full linear field equations are solved with a shooting method for realistic top and bottom boundary conditions.

Approximate transmission coefficients in heavy ion fusion
In this paper we revisit the one-dimensional tunnelling problem. We consider different approximations for the transmission through the Coulomb barrier in heavy ion collisions at near-barrier energies. First, we discuss approximations of the barrier shape
