International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems, 1998
As the number of parameters involved in an economic model is often uncertain, we propose that it be estimated using fuzzy numbers. Since we move in an environment of uncertainty, it is logical to leave room for deviation in estimating membership functions.

Approximating theDomatic Number
SIAM Journal on Computing, 2002Summary: A set of vertices in a graph is a dominating set if every vertex outside the set has a neighbor in the set. The domatic number problem is that of partitioning the vertices of a graph into the maximum number of disjoint dominating sets. Let \(n\) denote the number of vertices, \(\delta\) the minimum degree, and \(\Delta\) the maximum degree. We

Approximation of approximation numbers by truncation
Integral Equations and Operator Theory, 2001Let \(A\) be a linear bounded operator acting on a Hilbert space, and let \(P_n\) be an increasing sequence of orthogonal projections of rank equal to \(n\), respectively. The present note is concerned with the convergence of various spectral invariants of \(A_n=P_nAP_n\) to those of \(A\).

Approximations for Expected Generation Number
Biometrics, 2007Summary A deterministic formula is commonly used to approximate the expected generation number of a population of growing cells. However, this can give misleading results because it does not allow for natural variation in the times that individual cells take to reproduce.

Approximation Numbers for Polynomials
2019Approximation numbers of linear operators are a very useful tool in order to understand the structure and the numerical behaviour of the operators. In this paper, this concept is extended to polynomials on Banach spaces and the approximation numbers of diagonal polynomials are estimated.
