Barremian-early Aptian charophyte biostratigraphy
New Barremian-early Aptian charophyte biozonations are proposed here based on the charophyte succession in the Maestrat Basin (Iberian Chain, Spain). Biostratigraphic analysis distinguished two biozonations, European and Eurasian, which were compared to establish correlations.

Within the Cretaceous Period, the Aptian-Albian interval (125–99.6 Ma, Ogg et al., 2008) was a critical time on a global scale. This is evident from 1) changes in the nature of the ocean-climate system brought about by increased ocean crust production ...

Timing of diagenesis and very low-grade metamorphism in the eastern sector of the Sierra de Cameros (Iberian Range, Spain): a U–Pb SHRIMP study on monazite [PDF]
The Sierra de Cameros is an intracontinental orogen and represents the north-western part of the Iberian Range in Northern Spain. It comprises a thick sequence of syn-rift continental sediments (mainly sandstones and carbonates) deposited during ...

This study reports two isolated feather fossils from the Lower Cretaceous Dabeigou Formation in northeastern China. Morphological analyses identified them as the earliest known feathered theropods (potentially including avian) in the Jehol Biota. This finding reveals a complex ecosystem at the dawn of the Jehol Biota, bridging the temporal and faunal ...

Early Cretaceous biogeographic and oceanographic synthesis of Leg 123 (off Northwestern Australia) [PDF]
Biogeographic observations made by Leg 123 shipboard paleontologists for Lower Cretaceous nannofossils, foraminifers, radiolarians, belemnites, and inoceramids are combined in this chapter to evaluate the paleoceanographic history of the northwestern ...

The lower Aptian ammonites of the Les Ferres Aptian Basin (Lower Cretaceous, Southeast of France) Part I: Introduction and biostratigraphy [PDF]
On the southern margin of the Vocontian Basin (SE France), for taphonomic reasons (fragmentation, reworking, pyritization), lower Aptian (Lower Cretaceous) deposits of the interval between the Deshayesites deshayesi and Dufrenoyia furcata zones are usually not suitable for studying the late ontogenetic developments of ammonites (fossil cephalopods).
