Comparison of SYSMEX CN-6000 and STAGO STA-R: Effects of hemolysis and lipemia [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry
Background: Routine coagulation testing is critical in diagnosing hemostatic disorders and monitoring anticoagulant therapy. The SYSMEX CN-6000 and STAGO STA-R analyzers utilise different clot detection methods, which may impact test results.

Sterilization of heparinized Cuprophan hemodialysis membranes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The effects of sterilization of dry heparinized Cuprophan hemodialysis membranes by means of ethylene oxide (EtO) exposure, gamma irradiation, or steam on the anticoagulant activity and chemical characteristics of immobilized heparin and the permeability

aPTT in Heparinized Plasma: Influence of Reagent, Acute-Phase Reaction, and Interval Between Sampling and Testing

open access: yesClinical and Applied Thrombosis/Hemostasis, 1996
Plasma samples from 10 healthy persons and 10 patients with acute-phase reaction were heparinized in vitro to obtain 0.00-0.70 U/ml. The activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) was then determined, using an optical method (Automated Coagulation Laboratory) and four reagents (actin, Cephotest, Platelin, and Throm bosil).

Endothelial thrombomodulin—Its role in trauma‐induced coagulopathy

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Trauma‐induced coagulopathy (TIC) describes a complex set of coagulation changes affecting severely injured patients. The thrombomodulin‐protein C axis is central to the evolution of TIC. Soluble thrombomodulin (sTM) levels are elevated after injury and predict poor clinical outcomes.

Efficacy and safety of argatroban in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome and extracorporeal lung support [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or pumpless extracorporeal lung assist (pECLA) requires effective anticoagulation. Knowledge on the use of argatroban in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) undergoing ECMO or ...

Early exposure, enduring consequences: How do I manage Rh immunoglobulin prophylaxis after Rh‐mismatched transfusions in children?

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background RhD mismatched transfusions in RhD negative women have the potential to impact future pregnancies through alloimmunization and development of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN). As use of RhD positive emergency‐release blood products in pediatric trauma has increased, it has become clear that a significant ...

Influence of high-dose aprotinin treatment on blood loss and coagulation patterns in open-heart surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Intraoperative administration of the proteinase Inhibitor aprotinin causes reduction in blood loss and homologous blood requirement in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

An assessment of green plasma: The in vitro hemostatic superiority of a currently discarded blood product

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Recent studies have linked trauma patient outcomes to the plasma donor's sex, with premenopausal females associated with improved survival and lower organ failure. Currently, green‐colored plasma (due to oral contraceptive use) is removed from the donor pool. We set out to evaluate the hemostatic potential of green plasma.

Correlation of plasma coagulation tests and fibrinogenClauss with rotational thromboelastometry parameters and prediction of bleeding in dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2019
Background Correlation of plasma fibrinogen concentration (fibrinogenClauss) with rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) parameters has not been investigated in dogs.
