Oxidative Stress Associated with Chilling Injury in Immature Fruit: Postharvest Technological and Biotechnological Solutions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Immature, vegetable-like fruits are produced by crops of great economic importance, including cucumbers, zucchini, eggplants and bell peppers, among others. Because of their high respiration rates, associated with high rates of dehydration and metabolism,

The CAMP effect ofActinobacillus pleuropneumoniaeis caused by Apx toxins [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1995
Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae shows synergistic haemolysis when cocultured with Staphylococcus aureus on blood agar plates. This CAMP effect has been attributed to a discrete CAMP factor, but also to the A. pleuropneumoniae-RTX-toxins I, II, and III.

Heat Shock Transcription Factor OsHsfc1a Enhances Rice Seedling Thermotolerance by Regulating OsMFT1 and Preserving Chloroplast Structure Under Heat Stress

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT High‐temperature stress severely threatens rice (Oryza sativa L.) growth and productivity, particularly during the seedling stage, making heat tolerance an essential breeding target. In this study, we identified the heat shock transcription factor OsHsfc1a as a positive regulator of thermotolerance in rice seedlings.

Tropical Dominating Sets in Vertex-Coloured Graphs

open access: yes, 2016
Given a vertex-coloured graph, a dominating set is said to be tropical if every colour of the graph appears at least once in the set. Here, we study minimum tropical dominating sets from structural and algorithmic points of view. First, we prove that the

OsFeSOD3 Functions as an Enzymatic Component of the PEP Complex, Bifunctionally Regulating Chloroplastic ROS Metabolism and Chloroplast Biogenesis in Rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chloroplasts are essential organelles responsible for photosynthesis, providing energy and metabolic intermediates required for plant growth and productivity. Chloroplast development is highly sensitive to environmental stresses such as drought, and this sensitivity is closely associated with growth inhibition and yield reduction under stress ...

Enzymatic antioxidant responses to biostimulants in maize and soybean subjected to drought Respostas de enzimas antioxidantes a bioestimulantes em plantas de milho e de soja sob estresse hídrico

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2009
Water stress is one of the most important environmental factors inducing physiological changes in plants, such as decrease in the water potential of the cells, the stomatal closure; and the development of oxidative processes mediated by reactive oxygen ...

3‐Methyl‐1‐Butanol Enhances Postharvest Resistance of Red Grapes to Botrytis cinerea by Activating Phenylpropanoid Metabolism and Antioxidant Defences

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Grey mould, caused by Botrytis cinerea, is a significant postharvest disease leading to substantial economic losses in the grape industry. This study investigated the regulatory mechanism of 3‐methyl‐1‐butanol (3M1B), a yeast volatile substance, on B. cinerea resistance in red grapes (Vitis vinifera L.).

Poplar miR1447 Is a Negative Regulator of Disease Resistance Through the SA‐Dependent Pathway

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although microRNA1447 (miR1447) regulates poplar responses to abiotic stress and pest infestation, how miR1447 regulates poplar immunity against pathogens and its underlying molecular mechanisms remain to be elucidated. Here, we revealed that miR1447 functioned as a negative regulator of poplar disease resistance against fungal and bacterial ...

Managing intraoperative iris syndrome with APX pupil dilator

open access: yes, 2021
Abstract: The Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (IFIS) represents the spectrum of iris responses during the surgery of phacoemulsification. IFIS symptoms include: flaccid iris that occurs as a result of normal intraocular fluid, so the iris tissue tends to prolapse through the intraoperative incisions through which cataract extraction is performed ...
