Using nationwide data from over 92,000 individuals, we reveal large‐scale spatio‐temporal variation in age‐dependent survival and age at first breeding in a long‐lived species. By comparing alternative spatial models, we show that demographic variation follows a biologically meaningful spatial structure, with implications for population dynamics ...

Hotter, faster, sicker? Warming shifts the cost of infection from individuals to populations
This study examines how temperature alters disease impacts across biological scales in a host–pathogen system. We found infected hosts appear healthiest at warm temperatures, yet populations suffer most. This suggests climate warming may intensify disease impacts for populations in ways traditional individual‐level virulence metrics fail to predict ...

Hox Gene Variation Drives Morphological Specialization of Humpback Grouper Cromileptes altivelis
Cromileptes altivelis exhibits a distinctive “sunken head and humpback” morphology, formed through cranial remodeling. Genetic analyses identified unique amino acid variants in Hoxa7a and Hoxa10b, with functional tests confirming their role in enhancing osteoblast activity and driving cranial remodeling.

Kaempferol modulates the tryptophan metabolism pathway by increasing the abundances of Christensenellaceae R7 group, Bacteroides, and Blautia and reducing that of Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group, thereby significantly increasing the levels of ILA and IAA. This process inhibits the activation of NF‐κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway, reduces pro‐inflammatory factor
