Impaired Glymphatic Clearance, Measured Using Diffusion Tensor Image Analysis Along the Perivascular Space (DTI‐ALPS), is Linked to Poor Cognitive Outcomes in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Impaired glymphatic clearance may contribute to pathological accumulations in Parkinson's (PD), but how it interacts with other processes causing dementia remains unclear. Diffusion tensor image analysis along the perivascular space (DTI‐ALPS) has been proposed as an indirect proxy for glymphatic clearance. Objectives To clarify DTI‐

Aquaporin 1a expression in gill, intestine and kidney of the euryhaline silver sea bream

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2011
This study aimed to investigate the effects of chronic salinity acclimation, abrupt salinity transfer and cortisol administration on aquaporin 1 (AQP1) expression in gill, intestine and kidney of silver sea bream (Sparus sarba). An AQP1a cDNA was cloned

Distinct AQP4 Alterations in Movement Disorders with Primary Synucleinopathy

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Aquaporin‐4 (AQP4) is involved in clearing amyloidogenic proteins, but it remains unexplored how it is comparatively altered in neuron‐ and oligodendrocyte‐predominant synucleinopathies. Objective The aim was to assess AQP4 protein localization and abundance in Parkinson's disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA).

Can aquaporins be used as diagnostic and prognostic markers for uterine smooth muscle tumours?

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2017
Generally, uterine leiomyosarcoma is easily diagnosed. However, uterine smooth muscle tumours which show atypical histological features and unusual growth patterns may mimic malignancy and may not be easily diagnosed.

Automatic determination of glymphatic flow with the DTI‐ALPS‐index along the principal axis system in native imaging space corrects for head and fiber orientation

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this work is to make the DTI along the perivascular space (DTI‐ALPS‐index) more robust with respect to region selection and the orientation of the head and fibers. We propose to address this matter by using the principal diffusion directions and an automated, atlas‐based region of interest (ROI) placement.

Control of two sucking insect pests, a whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) and a thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), infesting hot peppers by spraying LDH‐formulated dsRNA

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A vacuolar type ATPase subunit B (vATPase‐B) gene is identified and expressed in the midgut of Bemisia tabaci and Frankliniella occidentalis. The double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) specific to vATPase‐B was expressed in hot peppers by virus‐induced gene silencing (VIGS) and killed both whitefly and thrips.
