Ranunculus calcareus and its role in lowland streams [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Ranunculus calcareus , a species of water crowfoot which occurs in clear, nutrient-rich chalk streams, was studied. Seasonal changes in its biomass, its annual production and its fragmentation (leading to downstream movement of the plant) were ...

The Third‐Generation Magnetic Super‐Stable Mineralizer: Complete Removal and Separation of Multiple Heavy Metal Pollutants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 3rd‐generation magnetic super‐stable mineralizer M‐MgAl‐700 features a core‐shell structure, strong superparamagnetism, large surface area, and abundant oxygen defects. It achieves exceptional Cd(II) and As(V) mineralization capacities, reducing both pollutants in co‐contaminated water and soil to meet national standards.

2,4-D and Mycoleptodiscus terrestris for control of Eurasian Watermilfoil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Growth chamber studies were conducted to evaluate the impact of an indigenous fungal pathogen, Mycoleptodiscus terrestris (Gerd.) Ostazeski, and the herbicide 2,4-D applied alone and in combination with one another, on the growth of a nuisance ...

Adhesion‐Driven Removal of Microplastics From Aquatic Systems by Using Microgel Glues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soft polymeric microgels function as “glues” that aggregate diverse microplastics through multivalent adhesion, promoting their interfacial deposition and co‐precipitation for efficient removal from water. Remarkably, this approach remains effective even for nanoscale plastic particles as small as 50 nm.

Optimized two-stage process of Haematococcus sp. for enhanced astaxanthin and essential fatty acids accumulation

open access: yesApplied Food Research
The present study evaluated a two-stage process of Haematococcus sp. to enhance the nutritional value by astaxanthin and fatty acid accumulation. Initial screening of different growth media during the green stage, focusing on enhanced biomass yield ...

A Computer Simulation Model of Waterhyacinth and Weevil Interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A personal computer simulation model termed INSECT has been developed to evaluate biological control of waterhyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms.) by two species of weevil (Neochetina eichhorniae Warner, and N. bruchi Hustache).

Synergistic Dual Slip‐Link Toughening of a Water‐Rich Double Network Hydrogel Combining Slide‐Ring and Highly Entangled Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two distinct slip‐link mechanisms – the slide‐ring pulley effect and highly entangled chains – are combined in a water‐rich double network hydrogel, achieving synergistic toughening, near‐complete reversibility, and exceptional friction tear resistance at >$>$91 wt.% water.
