Carboxylated Polyurethanes Containing Hyperbranched Polyester Soft Segments [PDF]

open access: yesKemija u Industriji, 2006
hyperbranched polyester soft segments (HB PU) with functional carboxylic groups in order to enable the preparation of stable HB PU dispersions. Carboxylated hyperbranched polyurethanes were synthesized using a hyperbranched polyester based on 2,2-bis ...

Reinforcement of polymeric structures with asbestos fibrils [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Investigation determines structural potential of asbestos fibrils. Methods are developed for dispersing macrofibers of the asbestos into colloidal-sized ultimate fibrils and incorporating these fibrils in matrices without causing ...

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Flow Patterns of Polymer Solutions Injected into Dispersions of Bentonite

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2003
The flow behaviour of colloidal dispersions is largely influenced by the interactions between the dispersed particles. We studied the influence of either natural or synthetic polyelectrolytes solutions on flow patterns within colloidal clay dispersion ...

Copper Nanocrystallization in Anodic Oxide Films of Ti–Cu‐Based Bulk Metallic Glass and Its Effect on the Corrosion Resistance and Cytocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Viktoriia Shtefan, Thorgund Nemec, Ute Hempel, Annett Gebert and coworkers demonstrate that anodic treatment of Ti–Cu‐based metallic glass in a nontoxic pyrophosphate electrolyte forms a protective bilayered Ti/Zr‐oxide film enriched with Cu nanocrystals.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.
