Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions

1993
In dealing with the thermodynamic properties of ions we have one difficulty in addition to those encountered in dealing with compounds and elements. For compounds and elements we found that although we could measure absolute values for some properties, others such as enthalpy and the other energy terms contained an undetermined constant.

Highly Compact Zinc Metal Anode and Wide‐Temperature Aqueous Electrolyte Enabled by Acetamide Additives for Deep Cycling Zn Batteries

Advanced Functional Materials
Rechargeable aqueous zinc (Zn) batteries are a promising candidate for large‐scale energy storage, but the noncompact and dendritic Zn deposition, water‐induced parasitic reaction, and narrow operating temperature range severely hinder their practical ...

Aqueous Electrolyte With Weak Hydrogen Bonds for Four‐Electron Zinc–Iodine Battery Operates in a Wide Temperature Range

Advances in Materials
In the pursuit of high‐performance energy storage systems, four‐electron zinc–iodine aqueous batteries (4eZIBs) with successive I−/I2/I+ redox couples are appealing for their potential to deliver high energy density and resource abundance.

Precipitated Iodine Cathode Enabled by Trifluoromethanesulfonate Oxidation for Cathode/Electrolyte Mutualistic Aqueous Zn–I Batteries

Advances in Materials, 2023
Aqueous Zn–I batteries hold great potential for high‐safety and sustainable energy storage. However, the iodide shuttling effect and the hydrogen evolution reaction that occur in the aqueous electrolyte remain the main obstacles for their further ...

Aqueous Electrolyte Batteries

1994
We begin this chapter with a brief review of design improvements aimed at making batteries more abuse resistant and safe for users, and we then discuss some of the safety precautions that users need to take to prevent accidents. With few exceptions, most of the design improvements we mention have already been incorporated into batteries where necessary.

Aqueous electrolyte batteries

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1996
Despite the growing interest in advanced lithium batteries, the overwhelming majority of batteries manufactured today are still based on aqueous electrolytes, mostly sulphuric acid or potassium hydroxide solution. The ubiquitous lead acid battery is, after 150 years, still being improved as regards its design and materials of construction. Rechargeable

Dielectric spectroscopy on aqueous electrolytic solutions

Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 2008
In this work, detailed dielectric measurements are presented on aqueous electrolytic solutions of NaCl and KCl in a broad frequency range, typical for modern telecommunication techniques. The complex dielectric permittivity or equivalently the complex conductivity are systematically studied as function of frequency (100 MHz-40 GHz), temperature (10-60 ...

Initial Electrospreading of Aqueous Electrolyte Drops

Physical Review Letters, 2013
The early spreading of a liquid drop on a solid surface driven by inertial, capillary, and electrostatic forces is of fundamental interest, since most commonly used surfaces are (naturally) charged. We studied the effect of applying an electric potential between a drop and a surface on the early spreading of aqueous electrolyte drops.

Reconfiguring the Electrolyte Network Structure with Bio‐Inspired Cryoprotective Additive for Low‐Temperature Aqueous Zinc Batteries

Advanced Energy Materials
Despite promising performance at ambient temperature, the development of aqueous zinc batteries is jeopardized by the freeze of aqueous electrolytes and deteriorative electrode‐electrolyte interphase at low temperatures.
