Nature‐Positive Materials Engineering: Carbon Electrodes from Satoyama Biomass

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Nature‐positive materials engineering can link satoyama forest stewardship with the design of carbon electrodes for batteries, supercapacitors, and electrocatalysis. By turning underused firewood and charcoal resources into functional carbons, this approach reduces mining footprints while supporting biodiversity, landscape resilience, and regional ...

Synthesis and Surface Engineering of Two‐Dimensional MXenes for Advanced Functional Applications

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
This study highlights the synthesis, surface engineering, and advanced functional applications of MXenes, emphasizing key preparation strategies that enable their use in catalysis, energy storage, sensing, and environmental remediation. Two‐dimensional MXenes (2DMxn), a rapidly expanding family of transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides ...

An Economic and Environmental Analysis of Virtual Fencing for Precision Grazing

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The UK grazing livestock sector is challenged by declining farm profitability and stringent environmental policy. Innovative technologies such as virtual fencing could enable a balanced economic and environmental performance of beef production. Virtual fencing is a livestock management tool relying on invisible boundaries perceived as auditory,

Scientists’ warning on the global destruction of rock outcrop ecosystems

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Rock outcrops are geological formations that harbor a highly specialized biota adapted to harsh environmental conditions that differ from their surrounding landscapes. They are globally distributed, especially in old, highly weathered landscapes, and can function as habitat islands containing high levels of endemism and distinct evolutionary ...

Electrochemical Investigation of Temperature‐Dependent Zinc Anode Behavior for Zn–MnO2 Batteries Under Alkaline and Mildly Acidic Conditions

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 13, Issue 13, 2 July 2026.
Temperature governs ion transport and charge transfer kinetics in zinc‐based batteries. We compare 6M KOH (potassium hydroxide) and 2M ZnSO4 (zinc sulfate) electrolytes across 0°C to 40°C, finding analogous temperature dependencies in diffusion rates, overpotentials, plating morphology, and Coulombic efficiency.
