Crossover from lamellar to spongy ice morphologies within a single ice crystal during unidirectional freezing of an aqueous solution [PDF]
Ice growth from liquid phase has been extensively investigated in various conditions, especially for ice freely grown in undercooled water and aqueous solutions. Although unidirectional ice growth plays a significant role in sea ice and freeze casting, the detailed pattern formation of unidirectionally grown ice in an aqueous solution remains elusive ...

Autoxidation of tryptophan in aqueous solutions [PDF]
Autoxidation of tryptophan was investigated in aqueous solutions by the gamma radiolytic technique. The oxygen uptake and formation of peroxide materials was followed as a function of pH, dose rate and concentration of tryptophan. The results obtained indicate that TrpH(OH)OO.

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Synthesis of metallic aluminum particles by electrolysis in aqueous solution
The present work proposes a method for fabricating metallic Al particles in aqueous solution. An aqueous colloidal solution was prepared from an aqueous aluminum nitrate nonahydrate solution by electrolysis using metallic Al plates as the anode and ...

A route to explain water anomalies from results on an aqueous solution of salt [PDF]
In this paper we investigate the possibility to detect the hypothesized liquid-liquid critical point of water in supercooled aqueous solutions of salts. Molecular dynamics computer simulations are conducted on bulk TIP4P water and on an aqueous solution of sodium chloride in TIP4P water, with concentration c = 0.67 mol/kg.

Bridging atomistic simulations and thermodynamic hydration models of aqueous electrolyte solutions [PDF]
Chemical thermodynamic models of solvent and solute activities predict the equilibrium behaviour of aqueous solutions. How-ever, these models are semi-empirical. They represent micro-scale ion and solvent behaviours that control the macroscopic properties using small numbers of parameters whose values are obtained by fitting to activities and other ...
