Feasibility analysis of replacing lithium-ion battery with aqueous zinc-ion battery

open access: yesHighlights in Science, Engineering and Technology, 2023
lithium-ion battery is a battery with intercalated lithium compound as negative electrode material and non-aqueous solution as electrolyte. It is often used as energy supply system for mobile phones, electric vehicles and other equipment. However, due to the instability of lithium and the flammable organic electrolyte, lithium-ion batteries are prone ...

A Unified Polymer Hydrogel Electrolyte Integrating Robust Adhesion, Self‐Healing, and Oxygen Permeability in Flexible Neutral Zn‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible neutral Zn‐air batteries achieving a remarkable 3000‐cycle lifespan and withstanding 1000 bending cycles are reported. This performance is realized by employing a 3D physically cross‐linked neutral hydrogel electrolyte that integrates high adhesion, self‐healing, O2 permeability, and CO2 tolerance to resolve critical stability challenges ...

Steric Coordination Modulated Iodine Chemistry With Four‐Electron Conversion for Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐additive electrolyte strategy is developed to address the hydrolysis of I+ in the aqueous electrolytes. The steric‐hindrance effect of TES− effectively shields I+ from nucleophilic attacks by hydroxyl groups, facilitating the reversible I−/I0/I+ conversion with four‐electron transfer.

Solvo-Thermal Synthesis of H6V4O10 Microspheres as Stable Electrode Materials for Lithium and Zinc-ion Batteries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
NH4V4O10 based ammonium vanadium bronze has been widely investigated as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. A V4O10 group based H6V4O10 might be a potential anode material due to its high hydrogen content and similar composition.

Design of High‐Energy Anode for All‐Solid‐State Lithium Batteries–A Model with Borohydride‐Based Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study proposes a function‐sharing anode design to enable nonmetallic lithium insertion while maintaining intimate interfacial contact with the solid‐state electrolyte. A combination of lithium‐compatible and conformable borohydrides, highly conformable indium metal, less‐graphitized acetylene black, and a layer of highly graphitized massive ...
