Rainfall shapes the physiological condition, but not the body size, of an introduced dung beetle in Brazilian pastures

open access: yesEcological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 2, Page 346-355, April 2026.
Understanding rainfall‐driven physiological shifts in dung beetles is crucial to predict how climate change may affect the fitness and persistence of key insect species in tropical pastures. We compared body size, dry, lipid and muscle masses of Digitonthophagus gazella collected during dry and rainy seasons in Brazilian pastures to assess the effects ...

Impacts of Low‐Level Jets on Moisture Transport to the Pantanal, Brazil

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 3, 15 March 2026.
The moisture transports from the tropics to the subtropics by the low‐level jets (LLJs) east of the Andes crossing the Pantanal region. Four LLJs, east of the Andes, were identified and selected with correspondent Lagrangian moisture transport. The LLJ moisture source regions contribute to Pantanal (~63.5%) and precipitation increased (~30%) during LLJ

Effect of land use change on Melolonthidae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) beetle communities in the deforestation arc of the Brazilian Amazon

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 19, Issue 2, Page 404-419, March 2026.
Habitat transformation in Amazon due to agriculture expansion impairs Melolonthidae diversity. Assemblage response towards habitat transformation are group‐dependent. Although highly disturbed, Amazon arc of deforestation region dwells sensitive insect assemblages. Abstract Although the Amazon provides crucial goods and ecosystem services for humanity,

Comparative performance of empirical methods to estimate the reference evapotranspiration in Aquidauana, MS, Brazil

open access: yesCientífica, 2018
Estimating the reference evapotranspiration is quite useful when managing irrigation, as before picking the right method; it is necessary to analyse local’s climatic conditions. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of empirical methods to estimate ET0, comparing them with FAO reference evapotranspiration from Penman-Monteith
