Enzymology of cytosine arabinoside

Medical and Pediatric Oncology, 1982
The enzymes responsible for the metabolism of Ara-C and its metabolites in human cells are described. The relevance of the properties of those enzymes to the action of Ara-C is discussed.

HERPES SIMPLEX ENCEPHALITIS: TREATMENT WITH ADENINE ARABINOSIDE AND CYTOSINE ARABINOSIDE

Medical Journal of Australia, 1978
A series of three infants with herpes simplex encephalitis is reported, together with details of treatment with adenine arabinoside and cytosine arabinoside. The former appears to be the most effective treatment available. A more aggressive approach is urged in the diagnosis and treatment of this serious infantile disorder.

Cytosine arabinoside cerebrospinal fluid kinetics

Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1984
To better characterize the disposition of cytosine arabinoside (Ara-C) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), its kinetics were studied in seven patients with meningeal leukemia in complete remission. After intraventricular injection of 30 mg Ara-C, CSF and plasma samples were obtained over a 24-hr period.

Corneal Toxicity of Cytosine Arabinoside

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1964
Antiviral agents are, in many ways, similar to antibiotics. They inhibit virus multiplication and can make the use of corticosteroids safer by preventing the reactivation of latent virus and controlling the tendency of virus to multiply in the presence of corticosteroids.

Cytosine Arabinoside Deamination in Human Leukaemic Myeloblasts and Resistance to Cytosine Arabinoside Therapy

Clinical Science, 1981
1. The conversion of cytosine arabinoside into its active metabolite cytosine arabinoside triphosphate, and catabolism by deamination to uracil arabinoside, was measured in intact marrow myeloblasts from patients with acute myeloid leukaemia. The ratio of uracil arabinoside/cytosine arabinoside triphosphate ranged from 0.32 to 19.11.
