Cisternography of Arachnoid Cysts

2023
Conventional magnetic resonance (MR) sequences are useful for the diagnosis of arachnoid cysts (ACs), but they are not sufficient to show the communication between ACs and adjacent cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-containing areas. Contrast material-enhanced computed tomography (CT) and MR cisternography play a crucial role in demonstrating this relationship.

Infratentorial arachnoid cysts

Journal of Neurosurgery, 1973
✓ A series of 20 cases of arachnoid cysts in the posterior fossa is reported. Classification was made according to the location of the cysts. Accurate clinical localization was only possible with cysts in the cerebellopontine angle. Ventriculography and pneumoencephalography were the most helpful investigations for making the diagnosis.
