Arachnoiditis ossificans: Clinical series and review of the literature
Ossification of the leptomeninges, or arachnoiditis ossificans (AO) of the spine resulting in neurologic decline is a rarely reported disease. To date, there are 72 cases in the literature. The natural history of the disease and the best management strategy for patients with this condition is unknown.

Arachnoiditis ossificans and syringomyelia: a unique case report
A 62-year-old male presented with progressive quadriparesis. Magnetic resonance imaging of the spine revealed a spinal cord syrinx but failed to detect extensive arachnoiditis ossificans noted on insertion of a syringopleural shunt. A postoperative computed tomography scan clearly demonstrated the abnormality and its extent.

Spinal Arachnoiditis Ossificans
ARACHNOIDITIS ossificans is a rare variant of arachnoiditis in which there is deposition of bone within the inflammatory process. Eighteen cases have been reported previously, of which 15 were spinal. 1-4 A general review of this disease can be found in Slager's report published in 1960.

Arachnoiditis ossificans is a uncommon disorder, is generally associated with neurologic deficits, but patients could be only mild sintomatic, regardless of the degree of ossification. Unenhanced CT has been well show to be sensitive for the disorder, useful to evaluate the full extenstion of the ossified mass and their remotion if surgical ...

Arachnoiditis ossificans of the thoracic spine
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2014Arachnoiditis ossificans is a rare disorder characterized by the development of calcifications of the arachnoid membrane of the thoracic and lumbar spines. It is an extremely rare cause of spinal canal stenosis and consequent neurological compromise, and its origins and optimal management remain unclear. We review of the literature that illustrates the

Spinal Arachnoiditis Ossificans: Report of Three Cases
Although the clinical and histological features of the pathological entity of spinal arachnoiditis ossificans (AO) have been established for some time, less attention has been paid to the treatment. We propose a classification of spinal AO evaluating the possibilities and indications for surgical or conservative treatment.Type III has a lumbar ...

Symptomatic arachnoiditis ossificans
Acta Neurochirurgica, 1982Two cases of symptomatic arachnoiditis ossificans in middle-aged women, who had excision of ossified dorsal arachnoidal plaques, are reported. The clinicopathological features and surgical management of spinal arachnoiditis ossificans, which is a rare cause of backache and myelopathy, are discussed.

Arachnoiditis Ossificans After Spinal Surgery
This article presents an unusual case of arachnoiditis ossificans after spinal surgery. A case of arachnoiditis ossificans secondary to lumbar fixation and decompression surgery for the treatment of multilevel lumbar fractures is reported and the relevant literature is reviewed.
