Intrathecal bupivacaine for arachnoiditis ossificans: A case report
Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2013Arachnoiditis ossificans is an uncommon chronic meningeal nflammatory process that typically affects adults [1]. The exact athophysiological substrate is unknown but the condition may be he result of end-stage adhesive arachnoiditis secondary to spinal urgery, trauma, subarachnoid haemorrhage, lumbar taps or injecions [2]. Although the vast majority of

Arachnoiditis ossificans of the cauda equina
British Journal of Neurosurgery, 2012A case of post-traumatic arachnoiditis ossificans of the cauda equina is reported. The lesion is a rare pathological entity usually confined to the thoracic and high lumbar regions that can cause progressive spinal cord and cauda equine compression. The pathophysiology and therapeutic strategy of this rare entity are still controversial.

Spinal arachnoiditis ossificans
European Spine Journal, 1995The histories of two patients with arachnoiditis ossificans leading to severe neurological impairment are presented. Analysis of these cases highlights the importance of three-dimensional (3 D) computed tomography (CT) scanning for the establishment of the diagnosis and in postoperative assessment of this rare disease, whereas magnetic resonance ...

Spinal arachnoiditis ossificans
Neurosurgery, 1983Abstract A case of spinal arachnoidits ossificans is presented and discussed. This is a rare pathological finding. A review of the pertinent literature is given. Laminectomy and removal of the calcification was followed by resolution of the neurological deficit.

Arachnoiditis ossificans is uncommon and has been reported to occur in areas surrounding the brain stem, the spinal cord, and the cauda equina. Predisposing etiologic factors include vascular anomalies, spinal anesthetics, and meningitis. This report adds a case of arachnoiditis ossificans about the cauda equina occurring after septic complications ...

The purpose of this article is to illustrate the appearance of arachnoiditis ossificans on MR imaging and discuss the implications this diagnosis has on treatment. In patients with arachnoiditis ossificans, the MR imaging findings are of linear or masslike intrathecal lesions, which generally have some hyperintensity on T1- weighted sequences and are ...

Arachnoiditis ossificans with arachnoid cyst after cranial tuberculous meningitis
Neurology, 1990A 34-year-old woman developed symptomatic arachnoiditis ossificans and an arachnoid cyst as a consequence of tuberculous meningitis adequately treated 20 years before. Surgical decompression of the cyst stopped the progression of her spastic paraparesis. Pathologic examination confirmed the presence of ossification of the arachnoid.
