Mineral Deposition From Liquid Precursors Triggered by Complementary Polyelectrolytes
Polyelectrolyte additives can delay or prevent crystal nucleation in supersaturated solutions of insoluble mineral salts such as calcium carbonate. This work reports that adding a second, oppositely‐charged polyelectrolyte leads to immediate mineral crystallization from such metastable solutions.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

The Influence of Vibration on CaCO3 Scale Formation in Piping System
Carbonate scale is a common problem found in a piping system of industrial process. The presence of mechanical equipment such as turbine, compressor, blower, mixer and extruder produce a mechanical vibration on the piping system which is placed near ...

Mineralogy of Deep-Sea Coral Aragonites as a Function of Aragonite Saturation State [PDF]
In an ocean with rapidly changing chemistry, studies have assessed coral skeletal health under projected ocean acidification (OA) scenarios by characterizing morphological distortions in skeletal architecture and measuring bulk properties, such as net calcification and dissolution.

Evolution‐Driven Bio‐Composite Aerogels for Self‐Adaptive Thermal Regulation and Energy Storage
Inspired by nature's multiphase integration, a single chitosan (CTS)–metal chloride (MCl3) coordination precursor is engineered to enable sequential material and functional evolution. The resulting metal ion‐coordinated chitosan (CTS–M) aerogels exhibit humidity‐adaptive thermal insulation for battery safety, while carbonization yields conductive ...

Self‐Assembled Calcite Architectures for Programmable Information Storage
Programmable biomineralization enables the formation of 3D calcite architectures that encode information through spatially defined refractive‐index modulations. Data are written via laser‐directed mineralization, stored in stable voxelized mineral structures, and retrieved non‐destructively through optical diffraction, offering a pathway toward ultra ...

The structure of aragonite [PDF]
Abstract Aragonite has the same composition as calcite, both being crystalline forms of calcium carbonate, CaCO3. A comparison of the structures of these two crystals is interesting, because they represent one of the most striking cases of dimorphism amongst minerals.
