Unrecognized Dengue Virus Infections in Children, Western Kenya, 2014–2015
We detected a cluster of dengue virus infections in children in Kenya during July 2014–June 2015. Most cases were serotype 1, but we detected all 4 serotypes, including co-infections with 2 serotypes.

Antibacterial and antiviral activity of a highly efficient electrospun r‐PET nanofiber
Abstract Since the COVID‐19 pandemic, the emergence of clean air has increased interest in developing antimicrobial air filters, targeting sterilization and public health concerns. Nanofibers are a promising approach due to their high efficiency in air filtration, while nanoparticles adhered to the fibre surfaces can improve safety due to the biocidal ...

Implications of autophagy on arbovirus infection of mosquitoes
Arthropod-borne (arbo-) viruses, like all viruses, are obligate intracellular parasites that have evolved mechanisms to subvert cellular processes and evade anti-viral defenses to replicate and persist. An increasing body of research is beginning to recognize the intimate relationship between arboviruses and the cellular autophagy pathway. As a result,

A novel mechanism underlying the innate immune response induction upon viral-dependent replication of host cell mRNA: A mistake of +sRNA viruses' replicases [PDF]
Viruses are lifeless particles designed for setting virus-host interactome assuring a new generation of virions for dissemination. This interactome generates a pressure on host organisms evolving mechanisms to neutralize viral infection, which places the

ABSTRACT Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection can trigger a sustained inflammatory response, often leading to chronic musculoskeletal pain. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs) may contribute to the persistence of arthralgia through their involvement in joint tissue remodeling and degradation. This study aimed to evaluate
