On the validity of archeomagnetic dating method in Korea: a case study
Geosciences Journal, 2017An archeomagnetic study has been performed for six archeological relics of the Proto-Three Kingdoms period excavated in Jungdo Island, South Korea. Among a total of 90 samples from hearths remains of six dwelling sites, the characteristic remanent magnetization components were isolated from 70 samples using the progressive alternating field ...

Archeomagnetic dating of Mediterranean volcanics of the last 2100 years: validity and limits
Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 2003Archeaeomagnetic dating developed at St. Maur laboratory has been applied to the Mediterranean volcanoes Etna, Vesuvius and Ischia. The method involves samples from lava flows or high temperature emplaced pyroclasts (welded scoriae, pumice, etc.) weighing 0.5-1 kg each, that allows reaching a precision of a few tenths of a degree on the direction of ...

Archeomagnetic studies of ceramics from the archeological monument in Ubeda, Spain
Izvestiya, Physics of the Solid Earth, 2011The archaeomagnetic study of the ceramics from the multilayered archeological monument Ubeda in Spain provided the data on the geomagnetic field strength in the period of accumulation of cultural deposits. According to the results obtained for the Ubeda monument of the Bronze Age and the La Motilla Del Azuer multilayer archaeological monument dated to ...

Archeomagnetic results from Spain
2007A first secular variation (SV) curve for the Iberian Peninsula was computed by hierarchical Bayesian method using a total of 134 archaeomagnetic directions with ages ranging from 775 BC to 1959 A.D. A general agreement is observed between the Iberian curve and the French and German SV curves, excepted between the 11th and 14th centuries.

The Global Archeomagnetic Database: Updates to GEOMAGIA50
2019Compilations of archeomagnetic data are fundamental to our understanding of the evolution of Earth’s magnetic field on centennial to millennial time scales. From the earliest studies of the Thelliers, Aitken, Nagata and others in the 1950s and 1960s, who obtained directional and paleointensity data from artefacts from Europe, the Near East, Asia and ...
