Expansion of Sinotaia quadrata (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Architaenioglossa: Viviparidae) in two major rivers from Argentina [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
Invasive non-native freshwater mollusks are a growing concern in South America, with 16 species already recorded in the region. Among them, Sinotaia quadrata has only been documented in Argentina, for the first time in the Punilla Valley, Córdoba (2009 ...

Study on the Synergistic Molluscicidal Effect of Pedunsaponin A and Niclosamide [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Niclosamide (NI) is the main molluscicide used to control Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck) (Architaenioglossa: Ampullariidae). However, NI failed to inhibit snail climbing during the treatment process.

Land molluscs from the Isola delle Femmine Nature Reserve (north-western Sicily, Italy) (Gastropoda Architaenioglossa Pulmonata) [PDF]

open access: yesBiodiversity Journal, 2021
The results of a study on the fauna of land molluscs from Isola delle Femmine Nature Reserve (NW Sicily, Italy) (Gastropoda Architaenioglossa Pulmonata) are here described. In this small island 23 species have been found, 6 of which are Sicilian endemic taxa. Siciliaria leucophryna microinsularis n. ssp.

Viviparus mamillatus (Küster, 1852), and partial congruence between the morphology-, allozyme- and DNA-based phylogeny in European Viviparidae (Caenogastropoda: Architaenioglossa) [PDF]

open access: yesFolia Malacologica, 2019
Shells and three DNA loci of Viviparus mamillatus (Küster, 1852), V. contectus (Millet, 1813), V. acerosus Bourguignat 1862 and V. viviparus (Linnaeus, 1758) were analysed.

The Acute Toxicity of Salinity in Onshore Unconventional Gas Waters to Freshwater Invertebrates in Receiving Environments: A Systematic Review. [PDF]

open access: yesEnviron Toxicol Chem, 2022
Comparing the acute toxicity (48–96‐h) of sodium chloride (NaCl) and/or synthetic marine salt laboratory exposures of freshwater invertebrates to the salinity in unconventional gas produced waters from coal bed methane and shale gas extraction, and how other major ions (Ca2+, K+, Mg2+, CO32–, HCO3–, SO42–) can influence the toxicity of Na+ and Cl– ions

Development beyond the gastrula stage and digestive organogenesis in the apple-snail Pomacea canaliculata (Architaenioglossa, Ampullariidae)

open access: yesBIOCELL, 2009
Development of Pomacea canaliculata from the gastrula stage until the first day after hatching is described. Trochophore embryos are developed after gastrulation, showing the prototroch as a crown of ciliated orange-brownish cells. However, no true veliger embryos are formed, since the prototroch does not fully develop into a velum.

Allozyme and morphology evolution in European Viviparidae (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Architaenioglossa)

open access: yesJournal of Zoological Systematics and Evolutionary Research, 2009
The paper describes morphometric and allozymic differences among four European species of the family Viviparidae: Viviparus contectus (Millet, 1813), V. viviparus (Linnaeus, 1758), V. acerosus Bourguignat, 1862, and V. ater (Cristofori et Jan, 1832). Fourteen continuous biometrical characters were measured.

A new species of Acicula Hartmann, 1821 (Gastropoda Architaenioglossa Aciculidae) from western Sicily (Italy)

open access: yesBiodiversity Journal
Malacological surveys in the limestone massifs west of Palermo (Carini, NW Sicily), revealed the presence of a new species of Aciculidae: Acicula occidentalis n. sp. (Gastropoda Architaenioglossa Aciculidae). Diagnostic traits are: the high number of axial irregularly distributed grooves, the sub-rectangular to pyriform aperture and the larger size ...
