4G Access Network Architecture

2010
Although all-IP networking is the ultimate goal of 4G wireless networks, 3G LTE and WiMAX systems have designed semi all-IP network architectures for efficient radio resource and mobility management. These semi all-IP networks separate layer 2 and layer 3 handoff operations by grouping many base stations (BSs) as a subnet, thus alleviating handoff ...

Fiber optic local access architectures

11th International Conference on Integrated Optics and Optical Fibre Communications. 23rd European Conference on Optical Communications IOOC-ECOC97, 1997
Burgeoning bandwidth demands and technological advances are causing network providers to re-examine the role of fiber optics in future access networks. We survey architectures that use fiber in the feeder and distribution plants and show how several classification schemes illuminate tradeoffs between various approaches.

Architectures for wireless ATM access

1996
This paper presents a study on possible architecture design concepts for integrating wireless networks with ATM technology. We discuss four different solutions for wireless ATM access, starting with transparent cell-relaying over the air interface, thereafter focussing on ATM- and AAL-based interworking concepts, and finally discussing proxy approaches.

Decoupled access/execute computer architectures

25 years of the international symposia on Computer architecture (selected papers), 1982
An architecture for improving computer performance is presented and discussed. The main feature of the architecture is a high degree of decoupling between operand access and execution. This results in an implementation which has two separate instruction streams that communicate via queues.

An accessible bicyclic architecture for synthetic lectins

Chemical Communications, 2013
Bicyclic carbohydrate receptors are easier to synthesise than tri- or tetra-cyclic relatives, and are better adapted to bind monosaccharide residues with bulky appendages. Disaccharides containing β-glucosyl units are preferred substrates.

Capture division packet access: a new cellular access architecture for future PCNs

IEEE Communications Magazine, 1996
The authors describe a new cellular access architecture, known as capture-division packet access, which is a packet-oriented architecture able to support the constant bit rate traffic and variable bandwidth on demand necessary for multimedia traffic.

Time in the Domain Entities Access Architecture

2015
Domain Entities Access is an architecture that enables the realization of platforms supporting responsive environments in the interaction with instrumented physical environments through the observation and the control of meaningful domain entities. This results in an environment model that abstracts from any technological details.

Why Computer Architecture Matters: Memory Access

Computing in Science & Engineering, 2008
The paper shows how applying knowledge about the underlying computer hardware to the code for a simple but computationally intensive algorithm can significantly improve performance. The paper also discusses how to rearrange code so that it accommodates the peculiarities of the memory system and consequently reduces execution time.

Architectures for open access hotspots

Eletrónica e Telecomunicações, 2004
This article envisages the study of wireless access points in an open access configuration. In this configuration, the users of the service have access to the network without the need of authentication and without accounting their access. Therefore, we intend to consider the particularities of an access perspective of this kind ...
