Architectural acoustic teaching software
Automation in Construction, 1997This paper presents a working hypothesis for the development of Architectural Acoustics teaching software. The concepts and rationale underlying the development are discussed first and followed by a presentation of current first-phase 2D work in progress.

Acoustical Modeling in Architectural Acoustics
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1965It is imperative to investigate the acoustical properties of roms with the aid of models prior to construction. Two sound sources have been developed to facilitate these investigations. An air jet utilizing four intersection jets provides a nondirectional random noise, over a frequency range of 2400 cps to over 100 kcps for the study of the steady ...

This paper discusses the development of architectural acoustics from Sabine's paper (1900) to the beginning of computer simulation. In the 20th century, physicists have dominated this field, but the problems to be solved require an interdisciplinary approach involving physicists, musicians, and architects.

An acoustic device and a method for altering sound. The acoustic device includes an architectural structure having a solid body. The architectural structure is adapted to be mounted on a wall of a room. The solid body has a channel therethrough to define a cavity therein. The channel is configured to alter sound waves incident on the acoustic device.

The great Greek Amphitheatre at Epidaurus is known the world over for its exceptional acoustics. It is an extraordinary piece of sonic architecture. Its location, nestled into the hills and facing away from the city, would have been very effective at limiting the amount of noise intruding into the venue.

Architectural-acoustics consulting
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2004Consulting involves both the science of acoustics and the art of communication, requiring an array of inherent and created skills. Perhaps because consulting on architectural acoustics is a relatively new field, there is a remarkable variety of career paths, all influenced by education, interest, and experience.
