Modeling Architectural Patterns Using Architectural Primitives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Architectural patterns are a key point in architectural documentation. Regrettably, there is poor support for modeling architectural patterns, because the pattern elements are not directly matched by elements in modeling languages, and, at the same time,

5G Architectural Design Patterns [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC), 2016
A great part of research activities, which are related to network and system integration towards a holistic 5G system, is still ahead of us. The reason is that despite the unprecedented advancements in the wireless link capacity, the actual 5G ecosystem contains numerous diverse software and hardware technologies including a multitude of components for

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Integrating Sustainability and Age-Friendliness: A Pathway for Coordinated Renewal in Dense Urban Communities—A Case Study of Yuexiu, Guangzhou

open access: yesBuildings
High-density cities face dual challenges of aging populations and climate change, driving widespread renewal of aging residential communities. Current practices, however, often treat sustainability goals (e.g., energy efficiency, carbon reduction) and ...

Modeling the early stages of a user-centered process in architectural design through adaptation of the methodologies of New Product Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In order to reach a degree of quality in architectural buildings that is likely to lead to user satisfaction, architectural design relies on integrating user-related information even before generation of building concepts.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Unidirectional Energy Dissipation-Based Piezoelectric Ultrasonic Monitoring of Anchor Bolt Axial Force

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering
Monitoring the axial force of anchor bolts is critical for ensuring the safety of geotechnical engineering structures. This paper proposes a novel method based on piezoelectric active sensing to accurately assess anchor bolt axial force.

Quantifying Schedule Delay Risk in Construction Projects: A Data-Driven Approach with BIM and Probabilistic Reliability Analysis

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2023
Progress management is an important scheme of construction management. In practical affairs, many unknown factors may lead to potential project delays and make the schedule risky.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Cell architecture for nanoelectronic design [PDF]

open access: yesMicroelectronics Journal, 2008
Several nanoelectronic devices have been already proved. However, no architecture which makes use of them provides a feasible opportunity to build medium/large systems. Nanoarchitecture proposals only solve a small part of the problems needed to achieve a real design.
