Arc length asymptotics for multivariate time series
Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, 2014AbstractThis paper quantifies the asymptotic behavior of sample arc lengths in a multivariate time series. Arc length is a natural measure of the fluctuations in a data series and can be used to quantify volatility. The idea is that processes with larger sample arc lengths exhibit larger fluctuations and hence suggest greater volatility.

Timed Arc Petri Nets: The Impulsive Approach
2018 5th International Conference on Control, Decision and Information Technologies (CoDIT), 2018In this work, a new graphical and mathematical model is presented as a new approach for Deterministic Timed Arc Petri Net. In the proposed Timed Arc Petri Net, time is associated with arcs in transition firing process. In the graphical model, a new triangular graphical element, namely time element is used.

Approximate chattering arc for minimum time flight
Acta Astronautica, 1995Abstract The purpose of this paper is to investigate the G-constrained approximate chattering arc for the minimum-time aerobraking maneuver of the shuttle-type space vehicle at constant altitude. Theoretically, in a chattering arc of the first kind, the control chatters between its maximum and minimum values at an infinite rate.

Arcing studies in the dite tokamak using a time-resolved arc detector
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1980Abstract The incidence of arcing in DITE as a function of the plasma parameters has been investigated using a time-resolved arc detector. The arcs are detected by observing the current and the optical emission from a concentric probe at the same minor radius as the fixed limiter. The measured currents are in good agreement with the estimated currents

Timed-Arc Petri Nets vs. Networks of Timed Automata
2005We establish mutual translations between the classes of 1-safe timed-arc Petri nets (and its extension with testing arcs) and networks of timed automata (and its subclass where every clock used in the guard has to be reset). The presented translations are very tight (up to isomorphism of labelled transition systems with time).

The linear time recognition of digital arcs
Pattern Recognition Letters, 1995Summary: We present a linear-time algorithm for recognizing digitized circular arcs, by a reduction to linear programming in fixed dimensions. This generalizes the known results for both digital line segments and complete circles. Moreover, our idea is flexible enough to admit further extensions, such as recognizing disconnected subsets of digital ...
