The Role of Foxes in Transmitting Zoonotic Bacteria to Humans: A Scoping Review

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Zoonotic diseases inflict substantial burdens on human and animal populations worldwide, and many of these infections are bacterial. An Australian study investigating environmental risk factors for Buruli ulcer in humans detected the causative agent, Mycobacterium ulcerans, in the faeces of wild foxes, a novel finding that suggests foxes may ...

Detection and Characterization of Extended‐Spectrum Beta‐Lactamase‐Producing Escherichia coli in Raw Seafood From the Coastal Area of Bangladesh

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 4, August 2025.
This study determined the presence of extended‐spectrum beta‐lactamase‐producing Escherichia coli (ESBL‐EC) in seafood samples in Bangladesh. The findings also indicated that ESBL‐EC showed higher phenotypic resistance profiles and contained ESBL‐related resistance genes.

Molecular Docking, Dynamics, and Preclinical Studies Reveal Morin Hydrate as a Potent PPARγ and Nrf2 Agonist That Mitigates Colon Inflammation

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 13, Issue 4, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptors (PPARs), functioning as nuclear receptors, regulate the expression of genes associated with inflammation, lipid metabolism, and glucose metabolism. The primary isotypes of PPARs are PPARα, PPARβ, and PPARγ. PPARγ is mostly expressed in adipose tissue and the colon.

New Pyridobenothiazolone Derivatives Display Nanomolar Pan‐Serotype Anti‐Dengue Virus Activity

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 13, July 1, 2025.
A ligand‐based strategy is employed, starting from hit compound 2, to develop the C‐2 modified pyridobenzothiazolone 19 as a pan‐serotype nanomolar DENV‐1‐4 inhibitor. Investigations of the mechanism reveal the peculiar ability to abolish the infectivity of virions in a second infection.
