This article reports the first genome sequence of a UK Alternaria brassicae isolate. Dual RNA‐sequencing profiling of A. brassicae‐infected Brassica juncea leaves identified differentially expressed genes involved in pathogenicity and host response pathways in moderately resistant Sej‐2 (2) and moderately susceptible Pusa Jaikisan cultivars.

Arctic shipping under global change: A case study of offshore oil exports
We explore impacts of sea ice thinning and evolutions in the energy sector on future use of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) versus the Suez Canal Route (SCR), using a case study of shipping oil extracted from the offshore Russian Arctic to China. We combine

Key Findings: An assimilation methodology is established for the Tomorrow.io microwave sounder (TMS) flying on CubeSats in sun‐synchronous and inclined orbits, and in all cloud scenes. The TMS has a significant impact on weather forecast lead times up to 3 days in the Tropics in a research‐quality numerical weather prediction setting, and yields water ...

Moisture inversions in the central Arctic: Product assessment and long‐wave radiative effect
This study evaluates the integrated water vapour and the vertical distribution of water vapour of state‐of‐the‐art reanalyses, weather forecast models, and ground‐ and space‐based remote‐sensing products in the central Arctic. A particular focus lies on the representation of humidity inversions and the quantification of the long‐wave radiative effect ...

Shortlist Masterplan Wind Ship-based monitoring of seabirds and cetaceans [PDF]
During April 2010 – February 2011, monthly surveys of seabirds and marine mammals were conducted aboard ships engaged in plankton surveys. After many years of little or no effort in far offshore areas of the DCS, this series of surveys provided the first

This article demonstrates that assimilating machine‐learning‐derived surface nitrate can improve five‐day phytoplankton forecast substantially within the Met Office operational system for the Northwest European Shelf. We explain the reasons behind this improvement and propose that an online system where machine learning and data assimilation are cycled
