Restoring Lateral Connectivity to Anthropogenic Riverscapes: Six Lessons From Stage Zero
ABSTRACT Centuries of river modification, particularly straightening and incision, have severely reduced lateral connectivity between rivers and their floodplains. As a result, Stage 0 riverscapes, characterised by high lateral connectivity (e.g., anastomosing or wetland riverscapes), are now rare in anthropogenic landscapes.

This study provides the first comprehensive reassessment of avian diversity in the Tumbesian region in over 30 years, documenting 931 species and identifying significant sampling gaps driven by geographic accessibility. We reveal a critical misalignment between biodiversity value and current protection coverage, particularly in humid forests which ...

Despite being an important fraction of any animal population, juveniles are a severely understudied group. Juveniles often need to learn an array of skills that allow them to survive independently and do so while undertaking decisions that may impact their fitness, recruitment and survival, having therefore relevant demographic implications.

Variation in Bird Gut Microbiota Across Dietary Guilds and Migratory Strategies
This study analyzed the gut microbiota of birds from different ecological types in Nanning, Guangxi, and found that different dietary habits (omnivory, carnivory, and herbivory) and migratory strategies (migratory and resident) significantly altered the gut microbiota of birds, but migration did not increase the inter‐individual variability of gut ...
