The notion of “Area of Freedom, Security and Justice” according to the Treaty of Lisbon

open access: yesМосковский журнал международного права, 2009
The article examines the notion “Area of Freedom Security and Justice” (the “FSJ”), the history of its evolution in the law of the European Union, it investigates the subject matter of this legal institute. In particular, the author notes, that the ...

Statistical and entanglement entropy for black holes in quantum geometry

open access: yes, 2014
We analyze the relationship between entanglement (or geometric) entropy with statistical mechanical entropy of horizon degrees of freedom when described in the framework of isolated horizons in loop quantum gravity.

The Tale of the Residual Tail: Insights From Continuous Intracranial Monitoring From Post‐Hippocampectomy Dynamics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Subtotal hippocampal resection can leave residual hippocampal tissue, yet the immediate postoperative electrophysiologic evolution of such remnants is unknown. We describe a patient with drug‐resistant temporal lobe epilepsy in whom a hippocampal remnant was continuously monitored using a responsive neurostimulator (RNS) following subtotal ...

Clinical Significance of Therapeutic Drug Level Monitoring for Mycophenolate in Patients With Extrarenal Systemic Lupus Erythematosus—A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Clinical response to mycophenolic acid (MPA) is highly heterogeneous; thus, therapeutic drug level monitoring (TDM) may help improve treatment efficacy. This systematic review and meta‐analysis examined therapeutic ranges for MPA levels associated with better outcomes and safety in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE ...

Black hole entropy for the general area spectrum

open access: yes, 2009
We consider the possibility that the horizon area is expressed by the general area spectrum in loop quantum gravity and calculate the black hole entropy by counting the degrees of freedom in spin-network states related to its area.

Flux-area operator and black hole entropy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We show that, for space-times with inner boundaries, there exists a natural area operator different from the standard one used in loop quantum gravity. This new flux-area operator has equidistant eigenvalues.

Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Effects of kinematic complexity and number of muscles on musculoskeletal model robustness to muscle dysfunction.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The robustness of motor outputs to muscle dysfunction has been investigated using musculoskeletal modeling, but with conflicting results owing to differences in model complexity and motor tasks. Our objective was to systematically study how the number of

Conformal Tightness of Holographic Scaling in Black Hole Thermodynamics

open access: yes, 2013
The near-horizon conformal symmetry of nonextremal black holes is shown to be a mandatory ingredient for the holographic scaling of the scalar-field contribution to the black hole entropy.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.
