Spectral‐Kinetic Synergy in Au‐Network Engineered FeTiO3: A Multi‐Field Coupling Strategy for Lunar In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How can humanity achieve lunar self‐sufficiency? We utilize Au topology networks to modify the abundant lunar ilmenite. This catalyst, under sunlight, can convert waste carbon dioxide into space fuel. This design leverages the moon's natural vacuum for green manufacturing, avoiding the waste of gold and serving as “artificial chloroplasts” to sustain ...

Patterns of endemism in Amazonian floodplain birds

open access: yesPerspectives in Ecology and Conservation
The subdivision of Amazonia in large interfluvial areas of endemism (delimited by major rivers), based mostly on bird species distributions, has been a recurrent starting point to the understanding and conservation of the biome’s megadiversity.

Distribution patterns of Terebellidae (Annelida: Polychaeta): an application of Parsimony Analysis of Endemicity (PAE)

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2006
The biogeography of Terebellidae (Polychaeta) using Parsimony Analysis of Endemism (PAE) is investigated and species and genera distribution in relation to coastal and continental shelf areas of endemism around the world is considered.

Areas of Endemism: An Improved Optimality Criterion [PDF]

open access: yesSystematic Biology, 2004
The grid-based method to identify areas of endemism proposed by Szumik et al. is extended. The improvements include the ability to assign scores of endemicity to sets of disjoint areas, and to have each species contribute more to the score of endemicity of an area, or less, according to how well its distribution matches the area.

Livestock Multi‐Omics Integration: A Systematic Framework From Statistical Association to Causal Interpretation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A three‐tier livestock multi‐omics framework resolves four typical analytical pitfalls. Moving from statistical association through machine learning preprocessing to triple‐modal causal inference, it converts omics results into genomic selection and gene editing strategies to achieve One Health, underpinned by multi‐omics data, multimodal sequencing ...

Higher taxa and the identification of areas of endemism

open access: yesCladistics, 2015
AbstractQuantitative analyses of areas of endemism have rarely considered higher taxa. This paper discusses aspects related to the use of higher taxa in the analysis of areas of endemism, and computer implementations. An example of the application of the method is provided, with a data set for Nearctic mammals, showing that some of the areas recognized

Staging an Experience of Cultural Heritage Preservation: Consumers' Willingness to Pay for Heirloom Rice in the Philippines

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Cordillera Administrative Region in the Philippines is home to terraced rice embedded in centuries of cultural heritage. However, weak market incentives threaten sustained production, jeopardizing indigenous communities' cultural heritage and the in situ biodiversity of rice genetic resources.

A rare case of paralysis in an endemic area

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
Thyrotoxicosis mostly presents with tachycardia, tremor, weight loss and other hypermetabolism signs. However, there are other unusual signs of thyrotoxicosis such as paralysis. This unusual clinical presentation may postpone prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Regional Differences in U.S. Consumer Preferences for Native Woody Shrubs With Varying Aesthetic Characteristics

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Native plants offer a variety of aesthetic (e.g., fall colour, fruit, flowers) and functional benefits (e.g., pollinator friendly, wildlife friendly, water management). How these benefits influence consumer choice and perceived value of native versus introduced plants is not well understood.
