Sepak bola menuntut daya tahan aerobik atau VO2 maks yang baik, karena merupakan salah satu cabang olahraga yang dominan menggunakan sistem energi aerobik. Pemain sepak bola dapat meningkatkan kapasitas VO2 maks melalui latihan interval. Akademi AREMA FC U16 belum memiliki program latihan yang spesifik untuk meningkatkan kapasitas VO2 maks.
