Laboratory Biology of Ornithodoros (Alectorobius) puertoricensis (Acari: Argasidae)
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1991The laboratory biology of Ornithodoros (Alectorobius) puertoricensis Fox was studied over a 2-yr period. Approximately 100-150 ticks were reared individually at each of four temperatures: 22, 27, 33, and 40 degrees C and 90-95% RH. The mean egg incubation periods at those temperatures were 20.3, 11.1, 7.3, and 6.1 d, respectively.

A New Ligation Technique for Soft Ticks (Acari: Argasidae)
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1988A new technique is described for the ligation of soft ticks using standard office staples. The technique was applied to Ornithodoros parkeri . The method is simple and easy; it results in complete separation of the tick body and causes low mortality.

A checklist of the ticks (Acari: Argasidae, Ixodidae) of Japan
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2018Ticks significantly affect the health of humans and animals in Japan. However, no complete checklist has been produced for the Japanese tick fauna in English, and even recent checklists in Japanese do not include all presently known tick species found on the Japanese islands. Here, a complete species list of all tick taxa known to occur within Japan is

Colonization and Laboratory Development of Otobius megnini (Acari: Argasidae)
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1986Laboratory colonization techniques for Otobius megnini (Duges) are reported on rabbits and cattle. All life stages were held in darkness at 26 ± 1°C and 65 ± 5% RH, except unfed larvae, which were held at 85 ± 2% RH. Respective mean engorgement times for larvae and nymphs fed on cattle were 4.7 ± 2.1 and 38.2 ± 7.4 days.

Ticks (Acari: Ixodidae, Argasidae) of Coyotes in Panama
Systematic and Applied Acarology, 2013Abstract Data are presented for 103 tick specimens collected from four coyotes in two provinces of Panama. Six tick species were recovered: Amblyomma cajennense s.l., Amblyomma oblongoguttatum, Amblyomma ovale, Amblyomma sp. near parvum, Haemaphysalis juxtakochi, and Ornithodoros sp. near puertoricensis.

The Mechanism of Oviposition in Argas (Persicargas) Walkerae (Acari: Argasidae)
Experimental & Applied Acarology, 2000The process of oviposition in A. walkerae was observed and found to be a sequence of exactly coordinated, interlocking events independent of the age of ticks. Egg-laying always commenced with numerous dorso-ventral movements of the capitulum. The pedipalps were spread during the last dorso-ventral movement and lowered to the ventral body wall embracing

On the Origin of soft ticks (Parasitiformes, Ixodoidea, Argasidae)
ПаразитологияThe origin of the common evolutionary branch of soft and hard ticks is dated to the later Permian, approximately coinciding with the Permian extinction, and divergence of the common branch of Ixodoidea into ancestral forms of Argasidae and Ixodidae occurred in the Triassic.

A Note on the Generic Names Otobius and Otophilus (Acarina: Argasidae)
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1972Duges in 1884 [Naturaleza (1882–1884) 6: 195–98] described and figured the “spinose ear tick” as Argas megnini. Subsequently, Marx (1895, Proc. Ent. Soc. Wash. 3: 195–201) figured this tick and designated it as Rhynchoprium spinosum (═Rhynchoprion Hermann, 1804, a synonym of Argas). The following year Neumann (1896, Mem. Soc. Zool. Fr.
