Continuum gating current models computed with consistent interactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The action potential signal of nerve and muscle is produced by voltage sensitive channels that include a specialized device to sense voltage. Gating currents of the voltage sensor are now known to depend on the back-and-forth movements of positively charged arginines through the hydrophobic plug of a voltage sensor domain.

Flipping Out: Role of Arginine in Hydrophobic Interactions and Biological Formulation Design [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Arginine has been a mainstay in biological formulation development for decades. To date, the way arginine modulates protein stability has been widely studied and debated. Here, we employed a hydrophobic polymer to decouple hydrophobic effects from other interactions relevant to protein folding.

The effect of changing gravity and weightlessness of vasopressin control systems [PDF]

open access: yes
An immunoassay to determine the effects of changing gravity and weightlessness on vasopressin control system is discussed. Seven extracts from persons known to have inappropriate ADH syndrome secondary to pulmonary oat cell cancer were examined.

New Topics in Vasopressin Receptors and Approach to Novel Drugs: Research and Development of Conivaptan Hydrochloride (YM087), a Drug for the Treatment of Hyponatremia

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2009
Hyponatremia is the most common electrolyte disorder in hospitalized patients and is associated with the risk of intractable seizures and death. The effectiveness of conventional therapies for hyponatremia is inconsistent, and the rapid correction of ...

New insights into the transcriptional regulation of aquaporin-2 and the treatment of X-linked hereditary nephrogenic diabetes insipidus

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2019
The kidney collecting duct (CD) is a tubular segment of the kidney where the osmolality and final flow rate of urine are established, enabling urine concentration and body water homeostasis.
