Detection of protein symmetry and structural rearrangements using secondary structure elements

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Many proteins exhibit a degree of internal symmetry in their tertiary structure, including circular permutations. These characteristics play an important role in terms of the functional robustness of proteins against mutations, and are pivotal for the study of protein function and evolution.

Research on the Lossless Data Compression System of the Argo Buoy Based on BiLSTM-MHSA-MLP

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
This study addresses the issues of the limited data storage capacity of Argo buoys and satellite communication charges on the basis of data volume by proposing a block lossless data compression method that combines bidirectional long short-term memory ...

Radio Emission from Young Supernovae and Supernova Remnants in Arp 299

open access: yes, 2009
We have made sensitive milliarcsecond-resolution radio images of the nearby merger galaxy Arp 299 at four epochs spread over 18 months between 2003 and 2005. The combined data revealed a total of 30 point sources in the two primary merger nuclei.

Values and visibility: How CEO activism influences private and public consumer choices

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, Volume 47, Issue 6, Page 1523-1551, June 2026.
Abstract Research Summary Firms' and executives' stances on controversial issues affect consumer behavior. This “political consumerism” might be motivated by ideology and a desire to signal to peers, and thus vary for private and public purchases. We conduct an experiment with 1198 consumers to study how purchase visibility affects responses to CEO ...

Mesoscale and Submesoscale Variability in the Indian Ocean

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Material transport and air‐sea coupling dynamics associated with monsoon‐related mesoscale and submesoscale processes in the Indian Ocean significantly modulate biogeochemical cycles, the large‐scale energy balance, and both regional and global climate change.

X-Ray emission from SN 2004dj: A Tale of Two Shocks

open access: yes, 2012
Type IIP (Plateau) Supernovae are the most commonly observed variety of core collapse events. They have been detected in a wide range of wavelengths from radio, through optical to X-rays.

The Influence of Sea Ice and Ice Mélange on Outlet Glacier Dynamics in the Arctic and Antarctic: Recent Progress and Future Challenges

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Sea ice is situated close to the termini of many outlet glaciers in the Arctic and Antarctic and has the potential to influence their dynamics and, therefore, their contribution to sea level rise. However, the nature, prevalence, and ice‐dynamic significance of sea ice‐glacier interactions remains subject to several open questions.

Social Drivers of Vocal Flexibility in Female Baboons

open access: yesEthology, Volume 132, Issue 6, Page 390-398, June 2026.
Female olive baboons selectively grunt when encountering females with dependent offspring. Grunting likelihood depends on rank differences and the strength of their social bond. This study adds to the evidence that nonhuman primates have evolved to use structurally‐inflexible vocalisations in population and context‐flexible ways.

Quantifying the Contribution of Ocean Advection and Surface Flux to the Upper‐Ocean Salinity Variability Resolved by Climate Model Simulations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
This study examines the impact of ocean advection and surface freshwater flux on the non‐seasonal, upper‐ocean salinity variability in two climate model simulations with eddy‐resolving and eddy‐parameterized ocean components (HR and LR, respectively). We

Annual Review of In Situ Observations of Tropical Cyclone–Ocean Interaction in the Western North Pacific during 2023

open access: yesRemote Sensing
We present a review of in situ observations regarding the interactions between tropical cyclones and the ocean in the western North Pacific for the year 2023. A total of at least 13 tropical cyclones occurred during this period.
