4D‐Printable Poly(Thio)urethane Photoresins With Reactive Oxygen Species Responsiveness and Anti‐Inflammatory Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces UV‐curable poly(thio)urethane (PSU) thermosets as 4D printable scaffolds responsive to oxidative stress. PSU networks with 100 wt.% polypropylene glycol (PPG) effectively suppress inflammatory markers in microglial cells to basal values.

Dialogues between social and natural sciences: contribution to the debate on socio-environmental conflicts

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2015
In this article, I argue that attempting to solve real problems is a possible approach to bring social and natural sciences together, and suggest that - as Environmental Impact Assessment necessarily brings together social and environmental issues - this

Sustainable mining, local communities and environmental regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Sustainable mining is an objective as well as a tool for balancing economic, social, and environmental considerations. Each of these three dimensions of mining – and sustainable development – has many components, some of which were chosen for closer ...

Compression‐Tension‐Asymmetry and Stiffness Nonlinearity of Collagen‐Matrigel Composite Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled collagen hydrogel matrices are widely used in tissue engineering applications. These matrices stiffen and contract laterally under tension due to fiber alignment and soften and collapse under compression due to fiber buckling. It is demonstrated that filler materials, such as Matrigel, linearize the mechanical behavior of collagen ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...
