Argument or no argument?

Linguistics and Philosophy, 2007
We examine an argument for the non-context-freeness of English that has received virtually no discussion in the literature. It is based on adjuncts of the form ‘X or no X’, where X is a nominal. The construction has been held to exemplify unbounded syntactic reduplication.

Base Argumentation as an Abstraction of Deductive Argumentation

2021
Base argumentation is a logic-based instantiation of abstract argumentation. Each base argument is a subset of the given knowledge base. In this paper, we show that base argumentation satisfies some rationality postulates, and that base argumentation is equivalent to deductive argumentation under complete semantics.

Oscillatory and periodic solutions of differential equations with piecewise constant generalized mixed arguments

Mathematische Nachrichten, 2019
We study scalar advanced and delayed differential equations with piecewise constant generalized arguments, in short DEPCAG of mixed type, that is, the arguments are general step functions.

A Corpus of eRulemaking User Comments for Measuring Evaluability of Arguments

International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation, 2018
eRulemaking is a means for government agencies to directly reach citizens to solicit their opinions and experiences regarding newly proposed rules. The effort, however, is partly hampered by citizens’ comments that lack reasoning and evidence, which are ...

Argumentation Systems

Fundamenta Informaticae, 1996
Argumentation systems are useful instruments for decision support when the arguments are changed dynamically in dependence of the users and the situation. In argumentation systems different strategies are used when the system prepares the argumentation for a given situation and/or user. These strategies correspond to some many valued logics and some of

Argumentation framework with weighted argument structure

IEEE 10th International Conference on Cognitive Informatics and Cognitive Computing (ICCI-CC'11), 2011
Theory of argumentation constitutes a general framework for reasoning and has been widely applied in computational intelligence problems such as nonmonotonic reasoning, decision making and logic programming. To capture the internal structure of arguments, each argument is assigned with a weight, which represents the argument's credibility, to construct
