Regional hotspots and drivers of shark meat consumption in India
There has been no systematic nationwide assessment of elasmobranch meat consumption in India. Through our survey of 2649 restaurants, we found that restaurants serve >250 tonnes of elasmobranch meat per year, with the highest availability advertised in the state of Goa. This makes up 9.8% of India's elasmobranch landings.
