Cash for Transactions or Store‐of‐Value? A Comparative Study on Scandinavian Countries and Canada
ABSTRACT We estimate the demand for transactional and non‐transactional cash balances (banknotes and coins) in Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Norway over the last decades exploiting the seasonality of cash demand. These countries share many features that are relevant for cash demand, but nevertheless show large differences in terms of aggregate ...

On Adjusting the One‐Sided Hodrick–Prescott Filter
Abstract We show that one should not use the one‐sided Hodrick–Prescott (HP‐1s) filter as the real‐time version of the two‐sided HP (HP‐2s) filter: First, in terms of the extracted cyclical component, HP‐1s fails to remove low‐frequency fluctuations to the same extent as HP‐2s.

PREVENTING NEGATIVE VALUES WHEN FORECASTING NON-NEGATIVE TIME SERIES VARIABLES [PDF]
Long run time series variables forecasting is of special importance to academics and professionals alike. In this paper, the disadvantage of the “Natural Logarithm” transformation that prevents generating negative values in the forecast horizon is ...

Macroprudential Policy in the Euro Area
Abstract This paper examines the development and impact of macroprudential policies in the euro area. We construct a novel index that captures the stance of macroprudential policy, and we highlight its main stylized facts since the inception of the euro in 1999. We combine a narrative approach and a structural VAR method to show that both unanticipated

Correlation Between the New Bite Force Meter and GC Dental Prescale II
This study evaluated a new one‐sided bite force meter (OBM‐01). In healthy and older adults, the device showed good reliability and moderate correlation with Dental Prescale II measurements. Habitual chewing side bite force was significantly higher, suggesting OBM‐01 may be useful for assessing oral function in clinical settings.

ABSTRACT Sleep bruxism (SB) has been reportedly associated with temporomandibular disorder (TMD); however, solid evidence is lacking. Previous studies have primarily used traditional metrics, such as the masticatory muscle activity (MMA) index and bruxism time index (BTI) to investigate the link between SB and TMD.

ABSTRACT In this paper, we propose a new test for the detection of a change in a non‐linear (auto‐)regressive time series as well as a corresponding estimator for the unknown time point of the change. To this end, we consider an at‐most‐one‐change model and approximate the unknown (auto‐)regression function by a neural network with one hidden layer. It
