Grip and Grasp: Lizard Claw Inspired Robotic Manipulators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Our study identifies the most effective lizard claw shape for use as an end effector in a bioinspired robotic manipulator. By examining key geometric features and combining them into comparative indices, the Crotaphytus collaris claw is found to be the best fit.

Summatory Multiplicative Arithmetic Functions: Scaling and Renormalization

open access: yesMathematics
We consider a wide class of summatory functions Ff;N,pm=∑k≤Nfpmk, m∈Z+∪{0} associated with the multiplicative arithmetic functions f of a scaled variable k∈Z+, where p is a prime number. Assuming an asymptotic behavior of the summatory function, F{f;N,1}=

Executive Functions and Strategic Aspects of Arithmetic Performance: The Case of Adults' and Children's Arithmetic

open access: yesPsychologica Belgica, 2010
In this paper, we provide an overview of three important issues regarding working-memory/executive functions (WM/EF), strategies, and cognitive development in the domain of arithmetic.

The Γ-function in the arithmetic of function fields

open access: yesDuke Mathematical Journal, 1988
Let \({\mathbb{F}}_ q\) denote the finite field of q elements, \(A={\mathbb{F}}_ q[T]\), \(k={\mathbb{F}}_ q(T)\) and denote by \(k_ w\) the completion of k with respect to a valuation w of k. (Thus w is associated with a monic prime of A or, when \(w=\infty\), with 1/T.) The Carlitz zeta function of A is defined by \(\zeta_ A(s)=\sum f^{-s}, \) where ...

Ring structures on groups of arithmetic functions

open access: yes, 2008
Using the theory of Witt vectors, we define ring structures on several well-known groups of arithmetic functions, which in another guise are formal Dirichlet series.

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Mediated Intercellular Communication: Mapping the Interactome for Skeletal Muscle Homeostasis and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...

A Bioinspired Three‐Dimensional High‐Curvature Nano‐Interface Integrated Microfluidic Chip for Small Extracellular Vesicles Enrichment and Machine Learning‐Assisted Prostate Cancer Precision Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biotin‐modified artificial insertion peptide functionalized three‐dimensional high‐curvature‐TiO2 nano‐interface was engineered in a microfluidic chip to improve the isolation efficiency of small extracellular vesicles (sEVs). This chip balanced affinity, releasability, and extendibility, enabling high‐throughput recovery of sEVs for downstream ...

Learning, realizability and games in classical arithmetic

open access: yes, 2011
PhDAbstract. In this dissertation we provide mathematical evidence that the concept of learning can be used to give a new and intuitive computational semantics of classical proofs in various fragments of Predicative Arithmetic.

INDUCTIVE FORMULAS FOR SOME ARITHMETIC FUNCTIONS

open access: yes, 2011
We prove recursive formulas involving sums of divisors and sums of triangular numbers and give a variety of identities relating arithmetic functions to divisor functions providing inductive identities for such arithmetic functions.
