Ecology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2025.The present study employs a modeling approach to examine the current and future distribution of 19 pine species in the Sierra Madre Occidental, Mexico. This was done in order to identify areas with high potential for pine species richness and to determine which species are at risk due to climate change under different projections.

Theory suggests that increased poverty, displacement, and a breakdown of law and order contribute to this situation.
