Issues of arms control in transatlantic relations (1963–1975)

open access: yesВестник Московского Университета. Серия XXV: Международные отношения и мировая политика
Against the backdrop of the rapid degradation and destruction of the international security architecture dating back to the Cold War, the problems of arms control in general and the proliferation of nuclear weapons in particular assume new significance ...

Transient Cytoskeletal Anisotropy Encodes Short‐Term Mechanical Memory in Glioblastoma Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The same mechanical deformation can produce distinct cytoskeletal states depending on loading history. Experiments and constitutive modeling reveal that transient actin–vimentin anisotropy stores mechanical information and governs short‐term mechanical memory in glioblastoma cells.

S‐Nitrosothiols as Thiol‐Protecting Groups for Controlled Thiol‐Maleimide Crosslinking of Homogeneous Soft Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid thiol‐maleimide addition frequently outpaces mixing, resulting in heterogeneous hydrogels. S‐nitrosothiols act as thiol‐protecting groups, allowing uniform mixing with maleimide‐functionalized polymers before gelation. Sodium thiosulfate or sodium ascorbate then regenerates thiols on demand, triggering controlled thiol‐maleimide crosslinking ...

Arms Trade Offsets and Development [PDF]

open access: yes
Offsets, arrangements that obligate the arms seller to reinvest (“offset”) arms sales proceeds in the purchasing country, are an increasingly important facet of the international trade in arms.

Advanced Materials for Biologics Delivery to Brain Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Material innovation is central to unlocking the therapeutic potential of biologics against many central nervous system diseases, including brain cancer. By engineering carriers with controlled transport, targeting, and release properties, advanced materials can overcome the blood–brain barrier and tumor microenvironment, improving the delivery of ...

Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma in a 69-Year-Old Woman Receiving Glucagon-Like Peptide-2 Therapy

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncological Medicine, 2015
A 69-year-old woman was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) of the nasopharynx. She has a history of catastrophic thromboembolic event in the abdomen that caused short-gut syndrome and dependence on total parenteral nutrition (TPN) twelve ...

Upscaling the Fabrication of Rod‐Shaped Microgels: A Microfluidic Method Combining Step‐Emulsification With Consecutive Droplet Confinement in Parallelized Microchannels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A microfluidic method is presented which enables parallelized fabrication of rod‐shaped microgels, based on step‐emulsification (SE) droplet generation and subsequent droplet distribution and confinement, combined in a single device. Microgel rods are fabricated in parallel at different flow rates based on two light‐mediated crosslinking chemistries ...
