Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

The Armed Forces of the Ottoman Empire in the Crimean War: Evaluating in the Past and in the Present

open access: yesВестник Волгоградского государственного университета. Серия 4. История, регионоведение, международные отношения, 2016
Military actions of allies in the Crimean War of 1853-1856 had the coalition character, and therefore it is quite problematic to evaluate the contribution of individual troops objectively.

THE RETURNING ARMY. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1898
The war is over and the heroes who freed the Western Continent from Spanish despotism are returning home. The first war of invasion on our part has been a short, decisive one. Only four months have passed by since the Chief Executive issued the first call to arms, and more than we expected has been accomplished. The outside world, which has sneered too

Echinoderm‐Inspired Autonomy for Soft‐Legged Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Inspired by echinoderms, a modular soft robot achieves autonomous phototaxis without a central controller or explicit communication. Each limb independently adapts its actuation timing through local sensing and short‐term memory. Coordination emerges purely from physical interactions, demonstrating resilience to changes in morphology, environment, and ...

SMAD4 Palmitoylation Drives a Metabolic‐Transcriptional Circuit to Promote Tumorigenesis and Confers Radiosensitivity in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies palmitoylation as a novel regulatory modification of SMAD4, mediated by ZDHHC22/APT2. It activates fatty acid synthesis, creating a self‐reinforcing SMAD4–FASN–palmitate feedback loop that drives pancreatic cancer growth and enhances radiotherapy sensitivity.

Molecular Glue cc‐885 Inhibits VHL‐Deficient Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma via ETS1 Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
VHL‐deficient kidney cancer lacks effective treatments. This study reveals that the molecular glue degrader cc‐885 hijacks the cellular recycling system to selectively destroy the oncogenic protein ETS1, effectively killing VHL‐mutant tumors. Combining CC‐885 with the approved drug belzutifan achieves powerful synergy, offering a promising new ...

Connexin 43‐Enriched Vesicles Improve Synchronization in hiPSC‐Derived Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plasma membrane‐derived Connectosomes enriched in connexin‐43 are produced from donor hiPSCs and applied to hiPSC‐derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC‐CMs). Connexin‐43 channels on Connectosomes remain functional, strengthening intercellular electrochemical coupling and increasing network synchronization over time.
