Growth and Yield of Taro (Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott.) as Affected by Planting Distance
Taro, Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott., is a staple food for many people in Africa. Despite the numerous importance of the crop, it still remains an underutilized crop in Ghana with little information on many aspects of the crop, especially agronomic practices. This experiment was conducted to identify the effect of planting distance on growth and yield

Evolutionary dynamics of chloroplast genomes in subfamily Aroideae (Araceae)
Aroideae is the largest and most diverse subfamily of the plant family Araceae. Despite its agricultural and horticultural importance, the genomic resources are sparse for this subfamily. Here, we report de novo assembled and fully annotated chloroplast genomes of 13 Aroideae species. The quadripartite chloroplast genomes (size range of 158,177-170,037

The phylogenetic position of Aglaodorum Schott (Araceae – Aroideae – Aglaonemateae) [PDF]
Analysis of chloroplast DNA sequences (trnL intron and trnLtrnF intergenic spacer) of the helophytic colony-forming Aglaodorum griffithii (Schott) Schott and other representative species of Araceae supported its placement within Aglaonema Schott. It is therefore proposed that Aglaodorum Schott should be recognised as a generic synonym of Aglaonema.

The potential use of asparaginases has gained tremendous significance in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Earlier studies suggest L-asparaginases (L-ASP) extracted from Escherichia coli and Erwinia aroideae regulates L-asparagine (L ...

On Genus Amorphophallus Blume ex Decne (Araceae) in Cuba
Context: The presence in several Cuban cities of Amorphophallus Blume ex Decne (Araceae), which has been poorly and unelaborately published in the scientific literature, encouraged researchers to conduct a systematic, phytogeographic, and ethnobotanical ...

CONTROL OF ERWINIA CAROVORA (AROIDEAE) ON ZANTEDESCHIA [PDF]
A major problem in the pot production of Zantedeschia (Calla Lillies) is the bacterial soft rot Erwinia carotovora. Sometimes if the corn is infected there may be no symptoms until the plant falls over. This disease can destroy an entire crop very quickly. Z. albomoculata, Z. Elliottiana', Z.

Biochemical Charcterization of Some Taro (Colocasia esculenta L. Schott) Germplasm in Ghana
Corms of eighteen (18) genotypes comprising twelve (12) introduced and six (6) local genotypes were studied for their nutrient quality to provide information on their nutrient characteristics for a holistic development of the crop. The crop is known for its edible corms and leaves.
