Fusion ARTMAP: An Adaptive Fuzzy Network for Multi-Channel Classification [PDF]
Fusion ARTMAP is a self-organizing neural network architecture for multi-channel, or multi-sensor, data fusion. Fusion ARTMAP generalizes the fuzzy ARTMAP architecture in order to adaptively classify multi-channel data.

Abstract Large‐scale farming and purposeful sinking of seaweed has been suggested as a marine Carbon Dioxide Removal (mCDR) strategy. Farmed seaweed uptakes dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) from the mixed layer, resulting in a CO2 deficit that causes an influx of atmospheric CO2 into the surface ocean.

Filling Knowledge Gaps in a Broad-Coverage Machine Translation System
Knowledge-based machine translation (KBMT) techniques yield high quality in domains with detailed semantic models, limited vocabulary, and controlled input grammar. Scaling up along these dimensions means acquiring large knowledge resources.

Reflections on the ARPA Experience.
When I returned to Stanford last summer after a two-year leave of absence, serving as a program manager at the Defense Advanced Projects Agency, I was frequently asked about that experience. It was superb experience, for many reasons. As a program manager I had near-perfect vantage point from which to view the entire field of Artificial Intelligence ...

Reasons, Mistakes, and Excuses
Drawing on the theory of practical reasons, John Gardner has offered a seminal account of excuses in criminal law. His proposal is that an excuse asserts that the defendant acted for what she justifiably believed to be sufficient reason for her to perform the offending act although she had no such reason.

Nothing Besides Remains: Preserving the Scientific and Cultural Value of Paleontological Resources in the United States [PDF]
Receptor occupancy assessed by Positron Emission Tomography (PET) can provide important translational information to help bridge information from one drug to another or from animal to man.

Adherence to e‐Diary reporting was investigated in a blended care setting among pollen allergic patients with heterogeneous cultural backgrounds. A stable ‘higher’ and a more variable ‘lower’ adherence cluster were identified. Early identification of lower adherence is possible and might inform early interventions to improve patient adherence. Landsat Satellite Image Segmentation Using the Fuzzy ARTMAP Neural Network [PDF]
This application illustrates how the fuzzy ARTMAP neural network can be used to monitor environmental changes. A benchmark problem seeks to classify regions of a Landsat image into six soil and crop classes based on images from four spectral sensors ...

In the first work of this series [physics/0204035] it was shown that the conformational space of a molecule could be described to a fair degree of accuracy by means of a central hyperplane arrangement.

Abstract This study examines how the Russo‐Ukrainian war affected natural gas consumption and air quality in northern Italy. The conflict disrupted European natural gas supplies, leading to a reduction in residential natural gas use. We investigated how this reduction affected air quality, focusing on residential wood combustion (RWC) as an alternative
