CHiP: A Configurable Hybrid Parallel Covering Array Constructor

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 2019
We present a configurable, hybrid, and parallel covering array constructor, called CHiP. CHiP is parallel in that it utilizes vast amount of parallelism provided by graphics processing units (GPUs). CHiP is hybrid in that it bundles the bests of two construction approaches for computing covering arrays; a metaheuristic search-based approach for ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Parallel optical readout of a cantilever array in dynamic mode [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this work we present parallel optical readout of a cantilever array which operates in dynamic mode using a standard optical beam deflection configuration containing only one laser-detector pair.

Flexible XL-MIMO via Array Configuration Codebook: Codebook Design and Array Configuration Training

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications
XL-MIMO emerges as a promising technology to achieve unprecedented enhancements in spectral efficiency and spatial resolution, via orders-of-magnitude increase in the antenna array size. However, the practical issues of high hardware cost and power consumption pose great challenges towards the cost-effective implementation of XL-MIMO.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
