Slot-based athermal silicon arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG)
A slot waveguide structure is used in the part of arrayed waveguides in AWG instead of silicon waveguides. It is filled with high negative thermo-optic coefficient polymer in the narrow slot. The arrayed slot structure can remarkably reduce the center wavelength shift when the temperature changes.

A cost-effective solution for packaging the arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) photonic components
Precision laser machining technology was used to cut arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) devices from 6-in wafers by following their complex profiles in a fully automatic way. A substantial cost saving in components manufacturing was achieved by an obtained device-cutting yield of 100%.

Wavelength Path Reconfigurable AWG-STAR Employing Coprime-Channel-Cycle Arrayed-Waveguide Gratings
We propose a novel reconfigurable AWG-STAR (physical star topology network with arrayed-waveguide grating router) that employs two kinds of cyclic-frequency arrayed-waveguide gratings whose repetition channel numbers are coprime. We demonstrate that all the wavelength paths can be assigned independently with excellent transmission characteristics.

Theoretical model of an interleave-chirped arrayed waveguide grating (IC-AWG)
In this paper, we propose a theoretical model for an Interleave-Chirped Arrayed Waveguide Grating (IC-AWG), modifying the already existing formulation based on Fourier optics. With the IC-AWG is possible to achieve several functionalities in a single device, such as channel demultiplexing, polarization splitting and 90° optical hybrid operation.

High Resolving Power Arrayed Waveguide Grating with Spiral Reusable Delay Lines (SRDL-AWG)
An arrayed waveguide grating with spiral reusable delay lines (SRDL-AWGs) with a resolving power of 111,330 is experimentally demonstrated. The device is over 100 times more compact than the traditional AWGs.

Athermal silica-based arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer
Temperature dependent channel wavelength shift in a silica-based arrayed-waveguide grating multiplexer is successfully suppressed from 0.95 nm to 0.05 nm in the 0-85/spl deg/C temperature range, which means it can be used in practical WDM systems without temperature control.
