Loss-imbalance equalization in arrayed waveguide-grating (AWG) multiplexer cascades

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1995
How to connect arrayed-waveguide-grating (AWG) multiplexers in cascade is discussed with the goal of equalizing the loss imbalance among frequency-division-multiplexed (FDM) channels. This paper proposes to average the FDM-channel loss over the cascaded multiplexers by shifting port connections between each adjacent multiplexer.

Integrated pressure sensor with large range and linear measurement based on SiO2 arrayed waveguide grating (AWG)

Measurement: Journal of the International Measurement Confederation, 2021
Abstract Integrated pressure sensor based on SiO2 arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) for large range and linear measurement is realized. By analyzing the shape change and photoelastic effect of the arrayed waveguides, the change trend of AWG’s central wavelength with pressure is calculated.

Digitally tunable optical filters using arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexers and optical switches

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1997
Two novel configurations for digitally tunable optical filters based on arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexers are described in detail with emphasis on the connection of the AWG multiplexer and optical switches. Performance comparisons show that conventional configurations are disadvantaged by the switch size required and loss imbalance among the

Athermal polarisation-independent arrayed- waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer using an all-polymer approach

open access: closedApplied Physics B, 2001
An athermal arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer relying on an all-polymer approach is reported. By properly adjusting the positive coefficient of thermal expansion of the polymer substrate and the negative thermo-optic coefficient of the polymer waveguide, athermal and polarisation-independent AWG devices are demonstrated.

An arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) for DWDM/CWDM application based on BCB polymer

open access: closed2008 International Conference on Electronic Design, 2008
Wavelength splitting (demultiplexing) and combining (multiplexing) are important functions in many optical applications. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) enable optical multiplexing and demultiplexing in which the signals having different light wavelengths can be separated or combined to transmit in single fibre optic.

4×4, 7 -FDM-channel reconfigurable network hub employing arrayed-waveguide-grating (AWG) multiplexers

open access: closedOptical Fiber Communications Conference, 1995
Reconfigurable FDM networks are attractive since their transparency suggests a new optical network layer on which many services can be integrated dynamically [1], [2], Such networks require transparent frequency-selective hubs that provide both multicast and cross-connect functions.

16-channel arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) demultiplexer design on SOI wafer for application in CWDM-PON

open access: closedSPIE Proceedings, 2015
Arrayed Waveguide Grating (AWG) functioning as a demultiplexer is designed on SOI platform with rib waveguide structure to be utilized in coarse wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network (CWDM-PON) systems. Two design approaches; conventional and tapered configuration of AWG was developed with channel spacing of 20 nm that covers the ...

Athermal polarization-independent 49-channel UV curable all-polymer arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer

Optik, 2014
Abstract In this paper, an athermal polarization-independent 49 channel arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer relying on a UV curable all-polymer approach was designed and fabricated by simple direct Ultraviolet photolithography process. The transmission properties of the AWG around the central wavelength of 1550.918 nm with the wavelength ...

Hybrid radio over fiber and baseband multiservice AWG-pon using CWDM and spectral periodicity of arrayed waveguide gratings

open access: closedMWP 2003 Proceedings. International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics, 2003., 2005
A new configuration of an AWG-PON is presented capable of delivering, simultaneously fixed, switched and broadcast services, both in digital and in radio-over fiber format from the CO to the ONUs and viceversa. An experiment demonstrates the independent delivery of different, including very high speed signals downstream from 155 Mb/s to 10 Gb/s and ...
